Annabelle Schneider is a Swiss-born, New York–based artist and experience designer exploring what it means to remain human in an increasingly technological world.
As artificial intelligence, screens and algorithmic systems reshape how we think, work and relate to one another, Schneider’s practice asks a fundamental question: What kinds of spaces do humans need now?
Working across art, architecture, technology and wellbeing, she creates immersive, multisensory environments that bring attention back to the body. Through soft architecture, breath, sound, scent, light and movement, her installations create temporary refuges from acceleration—spaces for slowing down, sensing, connecting and recovering a sense of presence. Rather than rejecting technology, her work explores how it can coexist with experiences that protect cognitive autonomy, emotional connection and our relationship to the physical world.
Her ongoing installation BREATHE WITH ME has evolved across cultures and contexts, from New York, Tashkent, and Barcelona to Art Basel, Dubai, Mount Pilatus or Milan, transforming the simple act of breathing into a shared spatial experience.
Schneider teaches Experience and Interior Design at Parsons School of Design in New York and speaks internationally on the future of design, AI and human experience. Her work has been developed with institutions and collaborators including USM, Snøhetta, Vitra, LAUFEN, Virgil Abloh, Snarkitecture, Eyesight Group and the Swiss cultural network.
At the heart of her practice is a proposition for the future: as our world becomes more intelligent, our spaces must become more human.
