Every piece in Henceforth…Hong Kong… began as a student project with a scenario attached — a submerged city, a vertical settlement 1,500 metres above sea level, a district where the last bamboo scaffold has just been replaced by steel. This session hands the exhibition back to the people who wrote those scenarios.

Rather than a seated lecture, it runs as a walking conversation. The group moves from piece to piece; at each stop the designers explain what they were researching, why the object took the form it did, and what changed once a local manufacturer looked at it. Visitors are encouraged to sit on the work while listening — the pieces were designed to be used, and the difference between reading a caption and feeling a seat height is most of the point of the exhibition.

The students will also speak candidly about the parts that did not survive: the joint that could not be tooled, the material that priced itself out, the proportion that had to move by thirty millimetres. For visitors considering design study, and for industry partners curious about where the next generation is looking, this is the most direct access the exhibition offers.
